UNIF BAZLA Documentation
Welcome to the UNIF BAZLA! This documentation outlines the goals, deliverables, and functionalities of the project as it transitions from HELP to a unified system tailored for UNIF’s requirements. Below, you will find details about the implementation phases and planned updates.
Project Description
The UNIF BAZLA is a comprehensive effort to adapt and enhance the existing HELP infrastructure, aligning it with UNIF’s needs. This includes rebranding, updating functionality, refining user interfaces, and introducing new tools to improve student, teacher, and staff experiences. Key features include dashboards, updated reporting systems, research project management, and webforms for administrative and academic requests.
Phase 1: Initial Implementation
Date Range: January 25 - March 31
Goals and Deliverables:
1. Interface Rebranding
- Replace all instances of "HELP" with "UNIF" across interfaces, field names, contact types, and user roles.
- Update the following:
- UNIF Class (formerly HELP Class)
- UNIF Course (formerly /HELP Class)
- Remove the reservation system as it will not function after transitioning to BackdropCMS.
2. Dashboard Updates
- Student Dashboard:
- Modify contact blocks for advisors to reflect UNIF’s context.
- Update links block with relevant UNIF content, forms, and data.
- Adjust blocks for Classes to suit UNIF’s framework.
- Teacher Dashboard:
- Modify Class blocks for UNIF.
- Create new blocks based on teacher feedback for access to useful data.
- Staff/Advisor Dashboard:
- Update content to enable access to Academic Affairs, Deans, and Directors.
- Add calendar blocks for scheduled events and meetings.
3. Functional Updates
- Update the tutoring system fields and forms for relevance in the UNIF context.
- Modify "Final Project" functionality for UNIF student theses and dissertations:
- Update CiviCRM fields and dashboard blocks.
- Update reporting interface for this data.
4. Research Projects
- Create a content type for Research Projects.
- Develop taxonomy for categorization.
- Design Research Project dashboard blocks and summary reports.
- Add CiviCRM contact sub-types for project partners.
5. Webforms and Surveys
- Collaborate with UNIF staff to define webform requirements for staff and students:
- Leave request letters.
- Work attestation requests.
- Academic transcript requests.
- Examples of additional webforms:
- Event surveys for students.
- Surveys for classes and tutoring feedback.
- Special class and event applications.
- Data entry forms for streamlined information input into CiviCRM.
6. Minor Interface Adjustments
- Student roster and photo book: Remove irrelevant HELP-specific fields.
- Update student transcripts with UNIF branding.
Phase 2: Linking Bazla and Moodle; Other New Functionality
Date Range: April 1 – June 15
Goals and Deliverables:
- Define workflows for creating classes (determine whether to start in Moodle or Bazla).
- Define authoritative systems for the following datasets:
- Class
- Course
- Registered students
- Instructors
- Grades
- Class session dates and times
- Develop synchronization functions between Moodle and Bazla:
- Sync classes.
- Sync courses.
- Sync instructors.
- Sync sessions.
- Sync registered students.
- Sync grades.
- Create dashboard blocks to display relevant information for each user type.
- Plan and implement a system for uploading and storing electronic resources for internal use:
- Create a new content type.
- Design new views for interfaces.
Phase 3: Maintenance Mode and Beneficiary Reports
Date Range: July – December
After the system has been in use for a period, this phase will focus on ongoing maintenance and defining parameters for Beneficiary Reports. These reports will be tailored to be useful in the UNIF context. This phase will require a dedicated planning and discovery period.
